Not Every Neighborhood Offers Valet Parking, You Know
-
This might take some research on your part, but it would be interesting to know if there are laws on the books in your city that nobody knows exist. In this case, Los Angeles happens to have a law that specifies that even in places where street parking is perfectly legal, it's illegal to park in a spot for more than 72 hours. The mayor says that the rule is actually 72 hours after someone calls it in, but, still, say you go away for a week. You could get your car towed and have to pay a $500 impound fee even if you're parked in a legal spot with no obvious time restrictions. The 72 hour thing is not on the signs. Is it fair for them to tow you if nobody even knows that there's a law about it? (KNBC-TV/Los Angeles)
