Use Beer. Won't Help Your Congestion, But It'll Eat Away At Your Brain Slower
-
The case of a woman who used tap water to clear out her sinuses with a neti pot and then died of brain-eating amoebae is another reminder to, you know, not put tap water, or lake water, or any plain water up your nose. You know it's a thing down south in warmer climes, but this woman was in Seattle, and there's concern that the amoebae are heading north. Good news: Generally, you're not going to get those amoebae by just drinking tap water. But if you're going to use a neti pot, use saline or sterilized water, not tap water. And if you're going to swim in a lake, um, maybe don't. (Seattle Times)
