A medical student was in a London tube station on his way home from an anatomy lecture when he got a chance to put his education into practice: He helped a woman who'd just given birth right there on the platform. There was blood everywhere, and screaming, and the student came in, used his sweater to swaddle the child, and took care of business, even though he'd never taken any midwifery courses and checked around to see if there was anyone more qualified to do something. (Spoiler: Nope.) He almost panicked when he couldn't find a pulse, but remembered to check the baby's reflexes, and all was well again. So, if you're in a public place, someone's giving birth, and there's nobody else around to help, would you know what to do? (BBC)
