King Solomon's Cap
-
It's a yearly debate: When a baseball Hall of Famer is inducted, which cap should he be depicted as wearing on his plaque if he played for multiple teams? Roy Halliday's family, posed with that dilemma -- he pitched longest and made his name with the Toronto Blue Jays, but he had his two most dominant, memorable seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies, and he and his family loved both cities -- chose the third option: no cap logo. He was a major league player, they reasoned, and that's how they want him to be remembered. This way, nobody's feelings will be hurt. Although as a Phillies fan and former Philadelphia-area resident, I'll admit that if they chose Toronto for the plaque, I wouldn't have blamed them at all. He became part of the fabric of Toronto over 12 seasons, so Toronto would have been fine. (CBC)
