Once It Gets Started, Oh, It's Hard To Stop
-
When mailing lists go wrong: This woman signed up for store discounts at a maternity store chain, and then she had a miscarriage. Nevertheless, the store -- and, crucially, many other companies to which the store sold their list -- inundated her with baby product promotions, including sending her formula samples. You'd think there'd be a way to stop all of that with a simple email or click, but no. And once the first store sold her information, there was no way to stop what came next. It's another example of how impersonal things have gotten. (CBC)
