Here's an article pointing out something you knew as a kid and forget as a parent: most gym classes suck. At least, for a lot of kids, it's this: You don't get real exercise, but you do end up getting bullied and embarrassed. It can be so bad that kids skip school over it. But physical activity IS important, so much so that a lack of it can keep a student's academic progress stunted. So, what WOULD work? Nutrition classes and unstructured play? Brief but more intense physical activity? How can we get kids moving without boring or embarrassing them? (The Atlantic)
