Eternal Vigilance Is The Price Of Convenience
-
It's not just surge pricing; you have to be vigilant when you use ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft. In this case, a woman knew her rides to Tampa airport for work are supposed to cost less than $20, and one ride charged her $110. Why? She noticed that the map route after the ride showed a stop they'd never made. But it took getting a TV consumer reporter involved for her to get it refunded. Moral: Check the app during and after your ride. And if you take a traditional cab, keep an eye on the meter. (WFLA-TV/Tampa)
