Oh, sure, New Jersey smells and it's blaming Pennsylvania for it this time. Okay, a few things: As a New Jersey native, I can assure you that most of the state doesn't stink. The stereotype arose from the smell of the industrial area with refineries along the New Jersey Turnpike near the airport and the sulfur pits in the Meadowlands swamps. This story, though, is further south, in Bordentown, south of Trenton and on the Delaware River opposite the more industrial southern portion of otherwise bucolic Bucks County. The folks in Bordentown say that the garbage smell is wafting across the river from four landfills on the Pennsylvania side, and they're complaining. Where are the smelly parts of your city? Because every area has that. (Philadelphia Inquirer)
