Because They Can't Just Directly Take All Our Money. Yet

Very, very endangered species: the toll booth. No, they're not getting rid of toll bridges, or toll roads. They're all going cashless, with the Outerbridge Crossing becoming the second bridge between New Jersey and Staten Island to go cashless and put in transponder readers overhead instead. It's going to cost most people $15 to cross, which seems insane. If you don't have an EZ-Pass, they'll photograph your license plate and send you a bill. On one hand, it does help keep traffic flowing. On the other hand, fifteen bucks to cross a bridge? (WKXW (New Jersey 101.5)/Trenton)
