Where Do The Scooters Go?
-
The latest chapter in the quest by government officials to take roads away from cars and give them to bicycles is this two-way bike lane installed on Spring Street in Downtown L.A. As someone who drives in DTLA on occasion and whose wife commutes there, I can confidently say that there's NO ROOM FOR BIKE LANES when there's ANY traffic around, such as, oh, I don't know, rush hour, or something going on at Staples Center, or a weekday. And when I drive downtown (something to be dreaded), I see existing bike lanes generally empty and cars crammed into fewer lanes. This should really have been thought out more. (KCBS-TV/Los Angeles)
