When it comes to religion, some folks believe that the rules are the rules, even if the rules are unfair under emergency circumstances. And so a Houston bakery that, because of the financial impact of last year's floods, had to stay open during Passover to make enough revenue to pay the rent has lost its Kosher certification after 70 years. There's no argument that if you're baking during Passover without matzo meal, you're not being Kosher, but couldn't they have suspended the certification and recertified the place once the holiday was over?
