In some states, there's no law at all about it. In some states, the age is 6, in others, 14. The question is, when it is either legal or moral to leave your kids home alone? The real answer, "it depends on the kid and where you are and for how long," is unacceptable. Some kids need supervision all the time and will until they turn 18 (and even older, but that's a different story). Others are independent at a very young age (I was pretty self-sufficient from toddlerhood). What age is appropriate if we're going to have a general rule about this? (Canton Repository)
