Forget Space Travel, Let's Try Coming Up With A Decent Straw Alternative First
-
More straw talk: San Francisco banned plastic straws, so restaurants switched to paper straws. You ever use a paper straw? They -- no pun intended -- suck. Even the thicker, cardboardy ones. They're more expensive, they get soggy, they collapse if you bite on them (which people do almost unconsciously), and while the city allows restaurants to offer plastic straws for the disabled, they don't have to and most won't go to the trouble and expense of keeping plastic straws on hand. Did anyone think this out before... nah, and that might have been deliberate. The war is on all plastic, and this was a foot in the door. (SFGate.com)
