It's Not About 'Legal.' It's Not About Following The Law. It's About Cruelty

Is this how things should go? An immigrant did exactly what you're supposed to do under the law -- obtained legal residency, applied for a green card, went back to Mexico to fulfill a U.S. federal requirement, got a physical. And during the physical, they asked him if he'd ever smoked pot. He said he used to do so. And so, he's been prevented from returning to the U.S. because they're taking it as an admission of criminal behavior, even though pot is legal in his home state of California (though not federally legal). If past weed usage disqualifies someone from being in America, we'd have to send most of the population away. This isn't what America's supposed to be. (Orange County Register)
