So Nobody Can Hear Your Call For Help
-
The end result of decades of soul-sucking "open office" plans that give workers no privacy or sense of self: Companies are installing "phone booths," glass enclosed shared work spaces where you can go get a few minutes of quiet to make a call. You're still quite visible to the whole office, but at least you can close the (glass) door. It's not quite a solution to a problem that shouldn't exist, but the corporate world bought into open-plan offices (and the savings they generate) years ago. (BBC)
