It DOES Beat Waiting On Line At The Nashville Hot Chicken Place
-
We've had stories about this before, but it's still interesting that there's a wave of restaurants starting up that don't have actual restaurants -- they're just kitchens, and the "restaurants" live entirely in delivery apps like Uber Eats or Doordash or Postmates. You can order for delivery, but there's no actual brick-and-mortar restaurant. Does this augur the end of social interaction -- you do everything at home, from shopping and working to eating, all via the internet and delivery services -- or is it just a good business idea to cut the costs of operation? And is this bad for the future of low-wage but necessary jobs like wait staff? (New York Times)
