You hated exercise as a kid, maybe because gym class in school was traumatic or boring or whatever. Now, you're an adult, and you know you need to exercise. This Guardian article offers tips on how to motivate yourself into exercising when you never had a taste for it before. The trick is to take the competition out of the equation: If you aren't competing, you aren't failing or losing. You're just sweating. And if you find an exercise you enjoy, whether dancing or yoga or lifting, that should overcome the memory of being the last one picked for a team sport, or being unable to climb the ropes.
