As Long As They Don't Rely On Wikipedia

Some colleges and professors are laudably trying to convert to textbook-free classes, finding online resources or even writing their own "textbooks" for free distribution as ebooks. Considering how much textbooks cost, this is a welcome development. But I'd be concerned that if there are things in those expensive books that aren't available otherwise, students won't get a complete picture. Yet, the books are so pricey that anything to make college more affordable is a good thing on balance. (Philadelphia Inquirer)
