At Least There Weren't Any Resort Fees
-
When you book a hotel room, you're generally assured that there'll be a hotel when you get there, and if there isn't, the hotel reservation system will find you alternate accommodations. Someone booked an Airbnb getaway in Joshua Tree and arrived to find the house burned down and the owner nowhere to be found. Turned out, after some research, the renter found out that the owner had been arrested and the house had exploded from a honey oil lab mishap. Not that cheap hotels have never had a meth lab problem, but, still, not ideal for a vacation. Airbnb ultimately took care of it, refunding all the money and making the renter whole, but that's certainly not what you want to have happen on a getaway weekend. (KABC-TV/Los Angeles)
