Endangered: corn tortillas. Oh, there will still be corn tortillas, but they increasingly do not taste like they used to, and that's because the quality of the corn is lacking, with the specific strain of corn that makes the traditional tortilla giving way to GMO-bred corn that's relatively taste-free. This is what happened to tomatoes, too; ask anyone who remembers the taste of a real Jersey tomato from the 1960s whether today's tomatoes are even close (they aren't). Are we, in our zeal to protect the agricultural economy, losing the flavor of real, good food? (KABC-TV/Los Angeles)
