The first to be eliminated: The Cardinals, swept by the Dodgers in the NLDS. The Cardinals have to be one of the most disappointing flops in recent playoff memory; they came in with one of the most feared rotations in baseball and a potent lineup that got better when Matt Holliday came in to follow Pujols in the lineup. And the starters did their job. But the lineup could do nothing with the Dodgers' pitching, and, well, you saw the disastrous end to Game 2. So the end, on Saturday, was merciful.
