This Is Not What They Mean When They Say A Hitter's Gone Cold
-
DId it make any sense for Major League Baseball to schedule the Phillies and Rockies to play their playoff games at night in Denver? No, not if you know what the weather in October in Denver is likely to be like. But baseball is ruled by TV, and TV wanted the Dodgers and Yankees in the prime time weekend slots for the east coast, the Red Sox secondary, and the Phillies and Rockies buried in the late-night slot. So they have to play in bitter cold, and you can't play baseball in twenty degree weather. They cancelled Saturday's game in the morning, so even baseball knows they're screwing this up, but what television wants, television ultimately gets.
