The lawsuit against the Trump administration over the rule that requires incoming visa applicants to turn over their social media account information to the American authorities raises the larger question of whether your social media postings should be used against you, and whether you should be able to remain anonymous and not inform any government, your own or others, that you have those accounts. Yes, the posts are often public, but you can post anonymously and you can restrict who sees any posts. Is it the government's business to inspect everything you've said? (New York Times)
