'Whoops, My Bad' Isn't Going To Suffice
-
I'm not sure whether it's insult, injury, or both that this guy had a life-saving brain tumor operation 13 years ago and surgeons left a catheter in his spine and another piece in his groin. It is both insult and injury that practically everyone involved are washing their hands of the whole thing, claiming it's not their problem, and he can't seem to get anyone to just cut him back open and remove the things, which threaten to paralyze or kill him. It's all about liability and the dangers inherent in the operation, which could also paralyze or kill him. He's willing to sign waivers, but so far, it's still a battle. This case is in Canada, but no matter the country or the health care system, medical mistakes and an unwillingness to fix them are just a matter of course. (CTV Vancouver)
