Here's another New Year's fitness reminder that the widely-spread goal of 10,000 steps a day is a myth, a fitness tracker marketing tool. There's no science behind it. For some people, 10,000 is not enough -- weight loss probably requires more than that. For the sedentary, a lot less than 10,000 is probably a better goal. And in any event, about 2,000 more than you normally walk is a good goal. There, now you know. (USA Today)
