Now, I've seen the value of the rare books stolen by two men from the Carnegie Library in Pittsburgh placed anywhere from $500,000, in this article, to $8 million. Either way, now that they pleaded guilty, someone should ask them why they did it. One of them was a antiquarian book dealer and the other worked as an archivist there, so money was probably involved, but was it always the plan to run this as an inside job or was it a "hey, you know what, nobody would notice if I walked out of here with one of these" thing?
