'Intelligence' Has Little To Do With It
-
You already know about Applicant Tracking Systems, even if you don't know the name: Those are the software scanners that corporate HR departments use to comb resumes for "keywords" and end up eliminating a lot of very qualified candidates ("but they save us time and money!"). Now, despite the evidence that the system is fatally flawed, companies are doubling down with artificial intelligence hiring algorithms that go so far as to do standardized video interviews that are then processed to analyze an applicant's grammar, facial expressions, and voice, as if the computer can really tell anything from them. This is disturbing. As should be this: If the people doing the hiring have been replaced in some part by AI, what's going to happen to the people they're supposed to be hiring? (CNN)
