Not The Time To Casually Browse The Shelves

There are experts who think that, under the circumstances, perhaps supermarkets should not let customers inside and instead convert to all-pickup and delivery. I'd be fine with that if my local Ralphs and Trader Joe's would a) have a better way of ordering online (or, in TJ's case, any way to order at all) that would show actual inventory instead of "sorry, we're all out" when it comes time to deliver, and b) would actually offer a reasonable chance of getting any delivery or pickup slots at all. As it stands, I have to wait several days for Instacart, and forget Amazon Prime- I could only get delivery once in the past month. But, yeah, if we don't HAVE to go into the store, why risk it? On the other hand, if it then requires more workers in the store to fill and deliver orders, is that really better for protecting the public? (CNN)
