Even Vermin Needs A Change Of Scenery Right Now
-
The story was everywhere this weekend, and it's an extension of the story we had a few weeks ago: The pandemic has eliminated a major source of food -- restaurant dumpsters -- for rats. The earlier articles said that the rats were turning on each other and killing and eating other rats in desperation. Now, it's that the rats are turning to the suburbs, where residential trash cans are the targets. I've noticed that some people on my area's Nextdoor are complaining about sudden influxes of rats, and we had one drown in our pool and end up in the skimmer (guess who had to fish the body out of there? I'm still haunted by that), though we haven't seen other rats in the neighborhood yet. If you're a fellow suburbanite, are you seeing an influx of rats? How will you deal with that? (Washington Post)
