From Upper Darby To The World

Been thinking about CNN's John King, prompted by Jake Tapper, calling Delaware County, PA "Delco," as people from Philly do, and it got me to thinking that a good topic for anywhere would be the names and words and phrases that only a real local would know and use. For reference, "Delco" isn't just a contraction of the name (there are Montco and Chesco and Buxco as well, but they don't quite have the same relevance). Delco connotes a whole way of life, which I can only simplify as "Eagles tailgaters" or "did you see 'Silver Linings Playbook'? That." As someone who once actually lived (technically; it was a dorm room and my campus straddled the Delco/Montgomery County line) in Delco, all I can say is, um, Go Birds. (Crossing Broad)
