Beats Growing Up Near The Sewage Treatment Plant
-
A bit of my childhood is in immediate danger: They're talking once again about closing the Nabisco plant in Fair Lawn, NJ. The Nabisco plant on Route 208 in Fair Lawn, and one on Roosevelt Blvd. in Northeast Philadelphia that closed a few years ago, were part of my life for one reason and one reason only: The smell of freshly-baked Chips Ahoy wafting across the road was (and, in the case of Fair Lawn, still is for now) one of the pleasures of life. That they're thinking again about closing it is distressing, both for the jobs to be lost and for the idea that generations will follow who don't experience the scent of cookies in the air. And maybe your area has places that have a certain aroma, good or bad, that you can talk about. (NJ Advance Media/NJ.com)
