After 2020, You're Going To Have To Do A Lot Better To Gin Up A Scandal
-
The Hilaria Baldwin scandalette -- you know by now that Alec Baldwin's wife affected an accent and Spanish background but is American and from Boston -- has unleashed the New York Post to go after Alec Baldwin himself for allegedly "changing his name," which is... well, first, there's no law against changing your name, and lots of people do it. And what they call "changing his name" turns out to be changing from being called Alex or Xandy to Alec at some point during his college years. That's not changing your name, is it? I mean, he's still legally Alexander Baldwin, and who cares if he wanted to go by Alec? True Confession: I was not known by my full three names until I started my career, and did it because there's another person in our business with the same first and last name and middle initial, and I didn't want to be confused with him. That's not a crime, it's not deceptive, and this whole thing is just stupid. Call yourself what you want. (Page Six/New York Post)
