I Miss The Days When They Used Real Potatoes (Oh, Yes, They Did)
-
Am I the only person NOT bothered that Hasbro has dropped the "Mr." from "Mr. Potato Head"? Because while it's about being more inclusive, which is a good thing, it doesn't even have to be about offense and gender roles if you don't want it to be. They're including the entire Potato Head family -- two adults and a little spud -- and all kinds of appendages and hair styles in the box, and you can put them together any way you want. What's the issue? You can still make a Mr. or Mrs. if you want, or go nonbinary, or do what I did as a kid and try to put the eyes where the mouth should be and the teeth on the top of its head and arms where the nose belongs. I was a weird kid. (I still have a Mr. Potato Head, Phillies edition, in my office right now, by the way. Has a shot at a job in the bullpen this season. Couldn't be worse than last year's relievers.) (Hasbro press release)
