Apparently, according to some observers, people are dealing with the pandemic with "toxic positivity," an attempt to cope by being relentlessly optimistic and avoiding the thought that everything's f'ed up and things aren't okay. But they're not okay, which leads to the "antidote" to toxic positivity, "tragic optimism," which recognizes the bad stuff but tries to remain sunny nonetheless. Easier said than done.
