Wasn't Like This When Everyone Wore Chucks And PF Flyers

You know how sneaker culture is a thing, and people go to extreme lengths to get limited edition Yeezys or Jordans. But the recent scandal involving the son of a Nike executive raised a lot of eyebrows among sneakerheads, who have complained for years that it seems like certain valuable limited releases are being sold to insiders and not to regular customers like them. They say that they're left clicking away on websites unable to buy the shoes, and they suspect that someone out there has special access and is making all the resale profits. I do like sneakers and I can understand on a fashion level why sneakerheads do what they do, but the whole investment/resale thing is a little beyond me. I don't think anyone should be cheating, but I'm not desperate to get a particular model of shoes. They're sneakers. To me, they're for wearing, not a display case, but that's just me.
