But You DO Love Counting How Many Greetings You Got On Facebook, Right?
-
Count the Washington Post's Gene Weingarten among those who don't care about other peoples birthdays, and before you decry his cold-heartedness, really, isn't the whole act of adult birthday celebrations, well, based on not a lot? Like, it happens to be the day you were born, which was not the result of anything you did other than to show up. And dutifully sending "Happy birthday!" to your Facebook friends is literally the least you can do. But on the other hand, isn't any excuse for celebration a good thing? And isn't getting a bunch of HBD wishes from people nice, and a reminder that, if only for a few seconds, someone thought of you, a nice thing, too? Are you a pro- or anti-birthday person?
