Depends On Your Chances Of Having To Live Through A Repeat Of 2020
-
A debate you may not know is going on among scientists is over how long humans can live. The record, disputed by some but generally accepted, is 122 years old; there hasn't been a lengthening of life spans at the extreme for a long, long time, even as average life spans have generally gotten longer over the decades. More people are living longer, but the oldest are dying at about the same point. Some think we can live much longer, others say 119 or so is the limit and will remain the limit. Would you even want to live that long? Do you think someone will discover a way to live hundreds of years? And what would that mean to the world, which would have to figure out how to sustain all those people? (New York Times)
