At Those Prices, You Can Fly There And Eat It In Its Natural Habitat

One huge success in the pandemic has been Goldbelly, which has raked it in by being the middleman in sending popular regional food across the country. You want a real Lou Malnati's pizza or gumbo from Commander's Palace or a legit cheesesteak from Jim's or Campo's in Philly (they have Pat's, but nah)? They'll ger it to you, for a price ($99 for four Jim's cheesesteaks? Really?). They provide the boxes and shipping means to the restaurants, and the ordering site for you, and presto: the legendary B&W crumb cake from Hackensack, or Junior's cheesecake from Brooklyn, or Franklin Barbecue from Austin? Yours. Anyway, the question is whether this will continue as a hot item once the pandemic's truly over, and whether people will be willing to pay ridiculous prices to indulge in a favorite from back home, or send as a gift. I think they will, though I won't. I mean, I'd LIKE a real cheesesteak from Jim's or a Key lime pie from the Keys, but not at any price. (New York Times)
