Blame, or credit, the pandemic for fancy restaurants dropping their dress codes, like Le Bernardin in New York no longer requiring men to wear jackets. Some are keeping the jacket requirement but allowing diners to go jacket-free on their patios or in certain rooms. The issue is the traditional loaner jackets, which raised sanitary concerns. And, also, the pandemic has people used to not dressing up. Are jackets an essential part of a high-level dining experience, or an archaic tradition? (Wall Street Journal)
