You Don't Need Waze For That
-
We talked about this last year, and here it is again, people coping with remote work by adding fake commutes to keep their daily routines stable. They might go for a bike ride before working, or drive to Starbucks. But I actually get why they'd do it: For a lor of people, the commute was when they did pleasurable things like listen to podcasts or call friends or get some reading done on the train or bus. That's been eliminated, so it makes sense to take some time to do those things. But in no way should it be interpreted as meaning that remote work is bad. To the contrary, it's great. And "fake commutes" just help people with the non-work aspect of traditional office work that they might miss. (Washington Post)
