Does Anybody Still Shop For Clothes In Person?
-
The verdict is in, and it's not good (and a little surprising): Old Navy tried expanding its line to include more plus size and petite clothing and put it in the same racks as other sizes in an attempt to address the fact that we're all a little larger than we used to be. Problem is, that meant less space for standard sizes, and they're selling out of those and are left with racks of XXS and XXXL clothes, and sales tanked. How can that be? I guess larger folks aren't shopping there, because they never used to find their sizes in stock and don't know about the added availability. Meanwhile, clothing designers are saying "see? We told you making plus sized clothes is more expensive and won't sell." So, what ARE larger folks buying, anyway? (Being of a larger size myself and usually ordering stuff from Old Navy rather than going into the store, I'm not sure WHICH stores other than the old "Big And Tall" and "Plus Size" places you'd even try...)
