Ban Or Get Off The Pot
-
The cigarette companies can see the handwriting on the wall: The government will, at some point, ban them from using the words "light" or "mild" on cigarette packs. But now the American Lung Association and Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) are railing against the use of light colors on the packages, claiming that a light shade of blue or gold conveys the same "light" message. I have no love for Big Tobacco and I hate smoking, but, come on. If they want to ban smoking, just do it. And if they want to ban any marketing at all, just do it -- plain black-and-white packs with "THIS WILL KILL YOU" all over them -- and let the courts decide if that's constitutional. (USA Today)
