How Dare You Question Her Free Money... Er, Disability Claim
-
This woman's mistake, if it turns out how the state of Connecticut wants, was to get some publicity for her stirring exploits as a multi-sport athlete, competing and excelling in BMX bicycling and martial arts while serving as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. That's because the glowing articles in the paper and on the Net conflicted with her state disability retirement benefits. See, she'd told the state that she couldn't work anymore after tearing up her shoulder while working as a prison guard. That was 14 years ago and $28,692 a year, plus state health insurance for her and her family (four kids) at no cost to her. She insists that she deserves the disability because she's in pain and can't return to her job, but, come on, if she can do BMX and fire fighting and be an EMT, how can she really be too disabled to work as a prison guard?
