This column asserts that the Internet is NOT free at all; We pay, says the writer, in the time we spend searching. That assumes we assign a value to every waking second. We don't. If I spend ten minutes Googling stuff, take Google away and I'd spend more time looking for answers, plus that ten minutes would probably not be spent doing something economically productive, unless scratching myself and looking at shiny objects is "productive."
