How obvious does a hoax have to be before people know it's a hoax from the get-go? I saw a zillion Twitter posts about the KFC "Skinwich" -- chicken skin with cheese and bacon -- and knew instantly that a) it wasn't true and b) people were falling for it. And I guess it did follow the cardinal rule of successful hoaxes: If you can't make it totally believable, make it something that people -- in this case, the fast-food-haters and anti-obesity-crusaders -- WANT to believe.
