Have an opinion? Add your comment below. As a result of this going to air, I received a large number of tweets, texts and phone calls all supporting me and being very positive... One woman, as well as tweeting me a number of times really positively, went on to write a blog about it and has agreed I can read out on air next week.

Ryan Taylor is the morning show presenter on STAR Breakfast in Cambridge in the UK, part of the UKRD radio group.
Ryan won the 'Arqiva' award, recognizing him as the best new commercial radio presenter in the UK in 2009/2010 and since then has gained National media coverage of his shows.
He's developing into a unique radio star in the UK.
As well as presenting on air, Ryan hosts a variety of local events on stage including village fair's, award ceremonies, charity functions and local Christmas light switch on's raising thousands of pounds for local charities.
He's a good guy. I met him recently at a Breakfast show bootcamp in Surrey in the UK hosted by UKRD.
In a room full of seasoned professionals he stood out.....and that's tough these days. It's also a quality that you need if you are to go "all the way."
A few days after the bootcamp I received this note:
Hi Phil
I hope you're well - it was great to meet you a few weeks ago in Guildford on the breakfast training day- I learned loads, and part of that is why I'm emailing you.
At 7:40am this morning we launched a new feature on the show "My Life Apology."
As a result of this going to air, I received a large number of tweets, texts and phone calls all supporting me and being very positive... One woman, as well as tweeting me a number of times really positively, went on to write a blog about it and has agreed I can read out on air next week.
Thanks again for the training ... as you can see, it really helped!!!
The training Ryan is referring to simply revolves around the need to open up and give of yourself. As we have talked about in previous weeks, storytelling, creating talkability and engaging listeners emotions all are key ingredients.
We talked about many morning show hosts being more engaging off the air and how to have the courage bring this stuff out.
Here is a great way.........and Ryan, congratulations on talking a risk, and standing out.
Have a listen.By the way........this was the comment from his Group Program Director, Phil Angell.
WOW!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic stuff Ryan. Wonderfully scripted and delivered and I've no doubt it took balls of steel to deliver this.
So...how do you feel now and what has the reaction been?
Bet you need a stiff drink now!
