1) What led you to a career in radio?
In 1984 I was 13, I called in and won a prize on Z-104 in my hometown of Virginia Beach. After hearing the playback on the air of me winning, I was blown away by how exciting the DJ made it sound. I became hooked from that moment.
2) What is your favorite part of the job?
The saying, "every day is different," is what excites me the most. I truly have the same excitement today as I did when I first started.
3) What is the most challenging part of the job?
Driving to work when the coffee hasn't fully kicked in.
4) What's the coolest promotion you've ever been involved with?
$25,000 Thursdays when I was doing afternoons at Z100. Very simple: Listen for a song in the 5p hour and be caller #100 when you hear it to win $25,000. This was back in 1996 as we brought Z100 back to Top 40. We wanted people to listen and that hour was used to showcase that the hits were back.
5) What artist would we be surprised to find on your personal playlist?
Dino.
6) What's one thing that would surprise many people to learn about you?
I'm the 1983 Virginia State Champion in Duck Calling.
7) Who is your favorite air personality not on your staff and why do you like them?
Broadway Bill Lee, hands down. You hear his passion for radio blast through the speakers and every time the mic is cracked, the break is flawless, Bill never mails it in.
8) What's the most unbelievable on-air bit you were allowed to do?
Does opening the mic every morning in New York qualify as a bit? I pinch myself everyday and find it unbelievable!
9) Who would be a "dream guest" to have on your show?
Oprah
10) What was your favorite station to listen to when you were a kid?
Z104/Norfolk-Virginia Beach and 97 Star WGH.
