1. You do the morning show at WNHT. What's the first thing you do when you get off the air?
Well that really depends on the day of the week. Monday - my stomach is probably still pretty messed up from drinking and eating crap so I would say take a poo. Tuesday-Thursday I roam the hallways looking for my sales victim of the day. Friday - I run to my office and hide under my desk because I know that my phone is not going to stop ringing all day and I have to get logs, weekend programs, mixes recorded, etc.....wow, its not even Friday and my head is already spinning.
2. What's been the biggest change in programming since you started as the PD at WNHT?
After tons of focus group research in the market, we dropped all "dance/pop" songs from our playlist, giving WNHT a more "urban" feel and a sound that was being craved in the market.
3. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An answer most will probably laugh at but my entire childhood I always said that I wanted to be a banker. I would sit in my room and count money for "fun". I have always been a bit of a math genius and a bit of a nerd.
4. You've lived practically around the world. What stands out about Fort Wayne?
I have lived all around the world, Indiana, Florida, Kentucky, N. Carolina, S. Carolina, Texas, Germany, Netherlands......toured Europe for two years......and Fort Wayne is still a very unique city. It is a great place to raise kids, cost of living is low, weather can kind of suck from day to day. We have tons of schools, restaurants, churches, and strip clubs. Interesting combination put those four things together and what do you get? You can fill in the blank.
5. Does Fort Wayne have a soft, sensitive side?
When I first came to Fort Wayne I was in the club and stepped on a guy's shoes. Speaking from experience, when that happens in most places, get ready to put up dukes. But instead of gearing up for a beating the guy apologized to me...weird.
6. What's your favorite song on the station right now?
I have a lot of songs I could say as my favorite right now....... Really liking the ASAP Rocky "Wild is the Night", Tyga "Dope", Young Jeezy "RIP", T Rone "Hello Love".......just to name a few.
7. If you were a high school teacher, what subject would you teach?
I could never be a school teacher. Knowing the way I was and how much trouble I caused and the grey hairs I know I gave my teachers. I would probably kill one of these unruly brats...lol
8. What do you like to do in your spare time?
Spare time????? Does any Program Director have that or know what it is? I guess the best way to ask this question is "what do you do when you are not actually at the station"? I always find time to bitch and start something on Facebook, do homework with my 8 yr old son, play some Call Of Duty with him. Yeah, I let my 8 yr old play. In the words of Chris Brown, "Don't judge me."
9. When you do a career day at a local school what do you think is the most important thing you tell kids about radio?
When talking to younger kids I ask them who gets in trouble the most, I tell those kids that was me too but if they stay focused then them could do what I do, too. Mainly, I tell all students, this is not a job that you will become rich doing but there is no other job out there like it. I get paid to listen to music and talk on the radio. I get to meet cool famous people!
10. What would be your dream radio market?
I don't really have a "dream" market. I am happy to still be in radio, and look forward to what it will bring.
Bonus Questions
Best new radio contact you've made during the last year?
I am always trying to make new radio contacts and I have made so many and don't want to leave anyone out or forget anyone, but I do have to shout out my new Regional Manager Skip Bednarczyk for believing in me.
And to some guys who grind hard out there, Darren Stephens in Knoxville, Omar Jannoun in Dubai, Woody Woods in Charleston, Lee L'Heureux, Davey Dee, Scott Maness. My whole Wild 96.3 staff and my mixshow guys Dj Special K, Dj Wicked & A-Jax thanks for all you do!
Where's your favorite food spot in Fort Wayne?
Hmmmmm.... I can't answer this question. If I did then we need to make some phone calls about working out and endorsement deal..... What? Always got to be thinking of revenue.
