10 Questions with ... Daniel 'Mambo' Herrejon

BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:

I started in 1996 with KCAQ Oxnard/Venttura doing nights with Rico. From 1999 to 2001 I was at KSEQ Visalia/Fresno. 2001 I got re-hired at KCAQ to do mornings. In 2005 left KCAQ to launch KVYB and do mornings and got fired in 2008. I was out of a job for about a year and in Sept. of 2009 I was re-hired at KCAQ to do mornings and I helped launch several stations (Q104.7-KQIE, Z94.5 KFYZ, Old School 95.9-KOCP.) I also did morning in Riverside/San Bernardino on KQIE and afternoons in Oxnard/Ventura on KOCP.

1. When, during your early days in the business, did you realize that you could make a good living doing something you love?

I realized it in 2001 when I came back to KCAQ to do mornings I could survive off of it but as far as making a good living out of it ask Big Boy and Ryan Seacrest.

2. You've teamed with Rico on the Rico & Mambo Morning Show for about 30 years now. When was the last time Rico found out a secret about you or having to do with you?

30 years? It's only been 20 going on 21 but who's counting. Secrets? I have no secrets. Rico on the other hand has a lot of secrets! I'll share a few with you. I know Rico's password to his computer is Shadow69, I know he hides all his porn at work in a folder titled Golf Swings and he's about to break up with his girlfriend because his wife found out. (I hope he don't read this!)

3. If you could be a soccer star, who would you want to be?

Messi

4. Riding the bench for the LA Galaxy or morning radio superstar?

I'll do both! 5:30 - 10 am morning show. Soccer practice from 11 am to 3 pm and not worry too much about the games because I'll be on the bench anyway.

5. Say something nice about your teammates, Rico and Kat?

I really want to say something nice but I can't think of anything right now. Can I get back to you next time I do 10 questions?

6. Your perfect vacation?

My family and I anywhere where there is gambling, Shopping and no cell service.

7. How does your wife manage to look so young and so happy while being married to you?

8. Seriously...what's probably the biggest key to your morning show success with Rico?

I believe chemistry and knowing our character role is a major part of the show's success. 99% of the material we use is our personal lives and listeners are able to relate.

9. If you could be on any TV reality show or game show, which would you want to be on?

I have to say DISH NATION! They need some Mexicans in the mix. #EOE

Cost Of Living!
