1. What got you into radio?
During High School I took a tour at Specs Howard School of Broadcasting after watching the students who were doing Radio and TV. ! In the fall of 1998 I decided to enroll for classes there. Originally T.V production was my focus but once I got a little taste of radio during the first half of the program I shifted my focus did a couple of internships and went full steam at pursuing radio.
2. What did you dream of becoming when you were a kid?
My dreams ranged from everything to wanting to be a lawyer to being a Music Producer...hey maybe one of those could still happen, lol!
3. How are you enjoying living and working in Boise?
Boise and the Treasure Valley have been amazing to me. Out of everywhere that I've lived, probably the nicest people I've encountered are in this area. The cost of living is very affordable and I work for a great company that believes in grooming and letting their employees grow from within.
4. What would probably surprise most people about Boise?
The vibe in Downtown Boise is vibrant and energetic. I once lived in East Idaho and I remember when I first moved there everyone said, " Why Idaho"? Well Southwest Idaho is a completely different world, literally something going on every night in the city, nothing dead or boring about Boise, at all!
5. You spent time in North Dakota. Were you able to experience a full Winter there and how was it?
Yes! My fingers still get numb thinking about those 30 below mornings starting my car! I loved my time in ND, but it was very cold!
6. You've made a commitment to living a healthier lifestyle. What motivated and continues to motivate you?
Luckily, I found a program and a routine that worked and when I started seeing real results, I kept going to see how far I could push myself to lose to weight and just live a better overall lifestyle. It's been helpful in my family life as well as to my career. When I go to visit my kids it's nice to be able to get up and run around with them, something I wasn't able to do in the past.
7. If you weren't in radio, what do you think you'd be doing professionally?
Possibly heading up some type of mentoring program for the youth. Something that's rewarding and fulfilling.
8. We know your radio job keeps you very busy but what do you like to do in spare time you have?
This is probably going to sound super douchie but it's not meant to be that way. When I'm not working, hanging with the wife or traveling to Salt Lake to spend time with my kids, I'm usually at the gym. We also have some cool things to do outdoors here in the Treasure Valley...in the summer I try to get down to the Greenbelt or just hanging out downtown.
9. If you could be on any TV reality show or game show, which would you want to be on?
I think it'd be cool to be on Nick Cannon's Wild N Out. They look like they have a blast, my jokes would have to be written though! (
10. Who were some of your radio mentors?
Jojo "Cookin" Kincaid, Zac Davis, Jagger (WKSS) Romeo (KKRZ, KXJM), Brian Michel, Kayvon Motiee, Tic Tak, Mojo (WKQI), Tony Coles, Dana Lundon. Also, during my time here in Boise I've soaked up amazing knowledge from my current GM Darrell Calton, Anthony Acampora and Kevin Cruise.
Bonus Questions
If you had to eat one type of meal everyday for a month, what would it be?
When you've spent the better part of the last 20 years living in the Mountain West, you grow very fond of the Mexican food!
What's your dream radio market?
Either back home in Detroit or just back in Salt Lake City where my kids are.
